Lake Fun

I haven’t posted in a while and thought I would share a few family experiences we have had. Last weekend the family and I went to Percy Priest Lake. Saturday we spent most of the day checking out the lake and the marinas, dreaming about our boat that we will use on the lake hopefully soon.

Sunday was a whole different experience. We found a really nice spot and decided to take the kids finish and swimming. Ounce we arrived all of us decided we would bait the poles and start fishing. Several feet to the right was this little old man with his wife and child/grandchild pulling out fish left and right. He was having a good old time. Aaron and I kept looking at our-selves wondering what in the world he was using. We kept changing the bait but no luck on bites. The old man must have felt sorry for us because before he left he came over and gave us his left over grasshoppers.

Grasshoppers no way…sure enough Mandy and I placed a grasshopper on our poles and as soon as I caste I had my first catch a Bluegill. The best was yet to come. I call out for Aaron and he rushes over. I pull the fish out of the water expecting him to take it off the pole and he tried oh did he try. There were these guys across from us watching Aaron “trying” to get the fish off the hook. Bless his poor heart they were laughing at him because he was having such as hard time. I must admit Mandy and I had a chuckle or two.

He finally did get it off before it died and we threw it back into the water. I am sure he was dramatized by the experience but at least he made it back into the water with all of his fish parts. :)

We had a really great time and are even more determined to get a boat because we just love the water. We even found a better lake called Center Hill Lake and it has 2 waterfalls. I hope we get to check that one out this weekend

  1. I think the photos of your home are wonderful…looks stylish but cozy and comfortable. When my children were still at home I learned that a comfortable home didn’t always mean a home with no messes.
With three children that can be expected. I think attitude also makes a house a home-when guests come in I’ll try pillows on the coffee table and say “kick your feet up” – light candles when there is no holiday; but what REALLY makes a house a home is the LOVE!
Doesn’t matter how expensive it is decorated…you can feel love in a home the minute you open a door! Hope you don’t mind my thoughts, but at this point in my life, I hope to be able to share even just a bit of experience (wisdom I would hope:). Your post was great.
    Thanks!

  2. OH SHUTUP!! I did NOT have that hard of a time. The fish’s dorsal fin cut me when I grabbed it, and after that, it was tough to get it off.

    C’mon…. give me a break!!! :)

But, we did have fun. It was cricket’s instead of grasshoppers, though. Never knew Bluegill would love crickets? I would have thought the crickets would drown before a fish would get it?

    We did have fun, though.

  3. You crack me up!!! The dorsal fin did not cut you. Maybe there was a little scuff on you but there was no blood and no proof of injury. LOL You are still the man!!

I love hanging out with you and kids at the lake. Why didn’t we do this before???

  4. Looks like you guys had a lot of fun and great memories just like always.
