•October 29, 2008 • 5 CommentsJoshua’s first test!
•August 25, 2008 • 4 CommentsI have been freaking out about all of this homework Joshua has been brining home. He has to try to learn 30 words which 10 are spelling 10 more come from a reading folder and the other 10 are sight words. I was for sure starting to believe that I was going to have a melt down right along with his homework meltdowns. Crying, crying and more crying. I could’nt blame him one minute you’re in Kindergarten having the time of your life and then all of a sudden all of this.
His first practice test was last Thursday 10 words and 1 sentence including punctuation. The children that made 100% on Thursday would not have to take the test that Friday. I knew he knew the words. He could spell them out loud but putting them on paper was a little harder for him.
Joshua came home on Thursday put his bag down pulled the folder out and gave me his 100% test. YES 100%. of course I gave him so much praise and told him that he wouldn’t have to take the test Friday, which made him happy. This week has been so much easier getting him to study and do his homework.
I am just amazed that first grade is so different then what it used to be and the expectations are so high. Anyway, I am just really proud of my little man!!!!
My house is a total disaster!!!
•August 10, 2008 • 5 CommentsIt all started Friday…Friday is my spotless house cleaning day. Everything gets done from washing floors to windows and of course laundry. I had finished a day early since we had Ameri-Care come out to spray we have so many freaking Black Widows.
Friday, was our first day of school and of course the weekend. Amanda asked if she could have a sleepover and I said sure. We had McKenzie, Alyssa and Amber stay the night. They were goofy but they had a great time. The house did suffer a little but not to horribly bad. They were really good about staying in the bedroom and just hanging out.
Since Mandy had a sleep over Friday night Devin asked for a sleepover Saturday night and we said of course. We do have the rule of Mandy and Devin cannot have sleepovers on the same night since they are getting to THAT AGE. Devin only wanted only wanted 1 friend and I thought great no mess only 1 additional kid…..BOY WAS I WRONG
Since Alyssa and Mandy were here for dinner and Devin, Cody and Joshua where here for dinner. Aaron and I decided we would leave all the kids in the dinning room to eat and we adults would go upstairs and relax with our dinner.
We could hear them being loud, laughing and having a great time we even yelled to settle things down. As Aaron and I came down stairs OMG what a mess. We had food spread from one corner of the dinning room all the way into the kitchen. The dog food was accidentally kicked during a chase between the boys and girls and went all over the floor. We had sand that the girls purchased from the Adventure Science Center earlier that day all over the floor. I am sure you get the picture.
Obviously the kids had a great time but ounce everyone leaves and all our kids are back home we will be having a long talk about what went wrong. Tomorrow the kids start back to school full time. Yea for MOM
My Boys are GREAT!!!
•August 6, 2008 • 7 CommentsI don’t get to take pictures of the boys posing to often. They both hate taking pictures and as soon as they see the camera they say “Mom do we have to”? So, I had to trick them. I told Devin that I wanted to post some pictures of him on my blog with his big new scratch. He of course thought that was cool and went for it.
Joshua on the other hand followed his big brother and went along for the ride. Yeah for me, they both decided it would be fine if Mom took a couple of pictures. Those two little buggers.
I have a wonderful husband that takes care of his family and loves us unconditionally. My boys are truly becoming their dad. My boys are great in every sense of the word. They are very compassionate and are very considered of others feelings especially my oldest, the baby still has some learning to do but he’s only 6. Of course they can be pains in the you know what, but you take the goof with the bad. I believe they will become great Men when they grow up.
Here are a few pictures of them and yes I had to put a picture of the scratch in, as well I couldn’t totally trick Dev.
Girl’s just wanna have FUN!!!
•August 6, 2008 • 3 CommentsMy daughter Amanda is 10. She loves hanging out with her friends. We constantly have between 2 and 5 extra kids hanging out here at the house, which is fine with me at least I know there not getting into trouble.
Anyway, the other day Mandy asked me if I could take some pictures of her and her friend Alyssa and of course I did. I took the girls to the little forest behind our house and this is what I got.
My personal favorite is of course the middle one. I love kids laughing and having a great time. Belly laughs are hard to come by with adults but with kids it’s so natural and it happens all the time. Guess us adults have some learning to do from our little ones huh???
Aren’t they just to cute!!! I can’t believe how fast the time is flying by.
Amanda is in the green shirt and Alyssa in maroon.
Hallway Painting Project Step 1
•August 3, 2008 • 3 CommentsWhat in the world was I thinking???? We have a very large entryway, it almost a waste of space but it is nice. I thought for such a huge entrance we should paint it something unique and different for that AHHHH effect.
Well, Aaron and I went to Home Depot and found a color wash we both liked. I waited a week to make a final decision on it. Last Sunday I went back to purchase what we needed, and $210 later, yup $210 couldn’t believe it, I almost threw up on the floor right there. I really hope it’s worth it. I also I didn’t realize that we are not done purchasing paint we will need another gallon of paint and maybe 2 more gallons of glaze.
I also know now that I can’t do this on my own. I have recruited my poor husband to do the top half. Poor guy he is hanging on for dear life in the picture below.
I hate the base color it looks like a baby pooped all over it. I am praying that the color wash will look like the picture when it’s done. Oh, the two middle pictures are more like the real wall color. I will update with pictures ounce we get the color wash on.
Here is what we have done so far:
Wedding Ring Update
•July 17, 2008 • Leave a CommentOK, for those of you that have been following my wedding ring disaster, I wanted to give an update since so much has happened.
First, the dogs never eat the ring so the many bags of dog poop that we went through were just a stinky waste of time.
My youngest did pick up the ring but he really never could remember what he did with it. After searching the entire house and almost 3 months later Aaron decided to purchase me a new ring.
Here is a pic:
3 days after receiving this beautiful ring I found my wedding ring set. I don’t bake often unless we have visitors coming. Aaron invited a friend from work and so I decided to make something special. I pulled out one of my glass mixing bowels and there it laid, my beautiful wedding ring set. I was in tears and now I have 2. But we took it back yestday and are using the money for other things such as renting the boat on the lake yesterday.
Dont get me wrong I loved the ring but what is better spending time with your family and having a great time or having 2 wedding ring sets in which you can only wear 1 at a time. Plus my original set means the world to me. I can always upgrade my diamond later, if I choose to do so.
Sassy the SUPER MODEL
•July 16, 2008 • 3 CommentsJuly 2008 Family Vacation
•July 16, 2008 • 1 CommentAaron and I took the kids to Springfield Mo for our family vacation. When living in Springfield it became a tradition to attend the James River Assembly 4th of July celebration. It was great going back and seeing how much it has changed and how large this function got. We had a good time, it was a little too hot and the lines were a little long but we were in great spirits.
The next day we went to Branson and spent it with my parents. We even rode the Ducks, which was fun. Devin and Joshua both become volunteers for driving the duck in the water. They thought they were sooo cool!
On Sunday, Aaron’s parents took us to Silver Dollar City with Megan his sister. We were able to ride the rides and even went to a magic show. I really enjoyed myself and I know the kids did as well. After Branson the kids had a blast in Oma’s and Grandad’s pool. I wish I had taken more pictures over the weekend. We took the kids to my grandparent’s house and they had a great time there as well. We even saw horses running around the backfield, which was a cool sight since it’s more like a park and the horses didn’t belong there.
On our way home we stopped by Aaron’s oldest sister house. Amber and Mike just had a baby and she is just so cute. The kids had a blast playing with one another. Actually we didn’t see them very much at all. They defiantly kept each other busy. We enjoyed catching up and relaxing with one another.
Here is a video I put together from our vacation. As I said I wish I had taken some pictures of when we all went to Silver Dollar City or just hanging out with Aaron’s parents and sister. I will make sure to have the camera ready next time.
Thanks to everyone for making this a great vacation!!!
Making a house a Home
•June 5, 2008 • 7 CommentsAaron and I have lived in several different states and have lived in many houses and apartments but we have never made a house a home. I never even really new what that meant making a house a home. When my sister and I grew up we moved all the time. My Mom did her best but the walls were never painted and it was just a house.
After Aaron and I married I always felt the need to start fresh and most of the time was excited about a new place. Ounce we made it to Tennessee I actually fell in love with the state, which has never happened before. We moved into a rent to own house and was hoping to purchase it after 2 years but the owner never paid the bank and we were kicked out because the bank took it back from the owner and we had no place to go. All of the money was lost and we weren’t sure what we wanted to do next.
Then we had a great opportunity, which is the house we live in now. We are closing on the 11th and have a wonderful interest rate. Everything we have gone through was to bring us where we are now. This house is just awesome it is more space then what we need but with 3 children that will be teenagers soon enough I am sure we will grow into it soon enough.
Going back to making a house a home. I have always loved houses that are warm and decorated such as Amber’s. You can tell she has put a lot of love into their home and it looks very inviting and comfortable.
That’s what I want. I want for people to come in and just be able to relax and feel welcomed. So I have finally started the process of making our house our home. We finally have placed curtains in some rooms not all yet they are expensive. All the kid’s rooms are painted and look awesome. So this house is my start to finally setteleing down investing in our home and allowing myself a home and not a house.
Here are a few pictures don’t mind the messiness of the kids rooms especially Joshua’s. I just finished painting his room last night and haven’t put his stuff back to where it goes. Also. remember i just started so I am doing baby steps. It cost way to much to do everything all at ounce.
